Previously known as Ruthvenfield, Roxburgh Park was renamed in the late 1890s. In the late 1980s the state government’s Urban Land Authority purchased the land. The urban settlement of Roxburgh Park was outlined to comprise of 7,000 blocks, released from the Urban Land Authority. The first dwellings in Roxburgh Park included the Uniting and the Catholic churches, a Catholic primary school and the state school.
