European settlers had established in Greenvale in the 1840s with land mostly used for farming purposes, grazing and cropping. The area’s first school opened in 1868. The school, church, and recreation reserve, established as the district’s centre. As the land was fertile settlers began farming. Greenvale was a rural community up until the late 1980s when the area expanded largely and shopping centres, schools and recreational facilities opened.
25km north of Melbourne’s CBD is the suburb dubbed the Toorak of the North, Greenvale. Greenvale is one of the most affordable and liveable suburbs in the region. The suburb has a mixture of older properties as well as new build estates.
