“A new home meant we had a home with most of our preferences instead of renovating and extending an existing home.” Explains Pauline.
The standout reasons why they decided to build with Fairhaven were the inclusions as well as their New Home Consultant.
Having previously built in the 1980’s the couple were “pleasantly surprised with all the inclusions that are now included”.
“We were impressed with the H1 slab which reduced the site cost shock, Colorbond® roof, stone benchtop in the Kitchen, the choice of facades, flooring and flyscreens that were included” says Pauline.
The consultant answered questions before and after looking through the displays at Kaduna Park, he also advised them of all the upgrades in the homes. That’s where they fell in love with the Merimbula 239 “it felt like home to us straightaway.”
“We were also surprised at the prices of Fairhaven Homes being so reasonable, we had it in our minds that they would be out of our price range.”
The consultant suggested the pair should also inspect another Fairhaven display the Ballina 250. The husband and wife had a tricky decision to make between the Merimbula and Ballina and enlisted the help of their kids and grandkids for their input.
Their consultant placed both homes on the block to help with the process. Ultimately it came down to the backyard, “Did we want a bigger or smaller backyard… needless to say the Merimbula won.”
The Merimbula offers four Bedrooms, two Living areas as well as a spacious Main Bedroom.
When asked did they have any non-negotiables they answered “Yes!”
Some of the non-negotiables were a standard in the Bridgewater range they included. “Colorbond® roof, higher ceilings, stacker door, brick infills above windows and doors, eaves. As well as a large shower, with rain head shower in the Ensuite, a bigger bath and stone benchtop in the Kitchen.”
Describing the overall interior design, the pair’s style and theme is light, and bright that suited a coastal area.
Pauline and Stephen’s favourite parts of building was following the progress of their new home, receiving happy email updates from their Customer Relationship Officer (CRO) as well as calls from their Site Supervisor (SS).
“We struck gold with our team… Our CRO was the bearer of good (sometimes not so good), she also listened and helped me out when I had a panic attack over 3 phase power. We looked forward to receiving regular fortnightly updates from her.” Pauline outlined.
“Grateful for the help and advice with the Myhaven Studio consultants, the Tender process is very thorough, and a few errors were picked up and corrected as well as suggestions made via phone and email.” She continued.
“Our SS gave us schedules which kept getting thrown out the window with delays caused by weather, COVID-19, timber shortages, and labour shortages but the build kept pushing on.” She concluded.
The happiest moment of their build was receiving the keys at handover. As well as the key moments like when their CRO informed them on the site start and updates from the SS.
“We would happily build with Fairhaven again.”

The first outstanding moment was walking out of the Kaduna Park display homes and Stephen saying, “We are going to buy a home from that Sales Consultant.”
