Once again Fairhaven celebrates International Women’s Day, also known as IWD for short. This day was first proposed in 1910, with the official day beginning in 1911, aimed at recognising the achievements of women in society, in politics and in economics, a reminder of what improvement’s still need to be done. We now celebrate annually!
This year’s IWD theme #EmbraceEquity is all about why equal opportunities aren’t enough. People start from different places, so true inclusion and belonging require equitable action.
Spotlight on Fairhaven’s employees
This year for IWD, we are proud to celebrate our talented female employees within our company, who make up roughly 40% of our workplace. So, we have put the spotlight on Rebecca, Rene & Kayla today!
Bec – Construction
Bec started her career at Fairhaven in 2020, working with clients as a Clients Relations Officer, then a building Co-Ordinator for Knock Down Rebuilds, before moving across to Tenders. Last year on IWD she was inspired to take the leap into doing something she’s always wanted, now working on-site as a Site Supervisor.
The best part of being a Construction Supervisor is seeing clients dreams come to life and sharing their on-site journey, says Bec
At every turn Bec has been encouraged to take on roles in numerous departments with nothing but support.
Bec mentions that a monumental moment at Fairhaven would be taking all the knowledge and skills that she developed over her time in the construction industry, combining that with Fairhaven’s key values, implementing these strengths and contributing to the growth of the company.
Rene – HR & Accounts
Rene began her career at Fairhaven in 2016 as a Permits Co-Ordinator. Within a couple of years this progressed into a Clients Relations Officer, before moving into the Accounts department in 2020. Recently Rene has taken a new career move, starting out as our Payroll & HR Administrator.
What Rene is most excited about in her new latest role is learning something new, and a fresh challenge.
Rene feels she has been given support and encouragement to learn multiple new roles within the company.
A monumental moment at Fairhaven is the company weekend in Hamilton Island, she says.
Kayla – House & Land Co-Ordinator
Kayla started off working at Fairhaven in 2018 as an Associate, then moving into a Cadet role, before progressing as a New Home Sales Consultant. Kayla’s role is now House & Land Co-Ordinator.
Kayla loves the diversity in the role, assisting the sales and marketing team, networking with the land sales agents and consultants alike.
Fairhaven has given Kayla opportunities to increase her knowledge and confidence within the residential building industry.
She really enjoys working with the staff at Fairhaven Homes. Appreciating her mentor Warren Millar and thanks our Director Rodney Radings for entrusting her to be our House and Land Co-Ordinator as she represents Fairhaven Homes, waving our flag high!
We thank all the women at Fairhaven Homes and others everywhere, as we celebrate women’s achievement’s and continue to raise awareness about discrimination. To learn more or for further information on how you can get involved, visit internationalwomensday.com
Whether you’re a woman or not, it’s always a good time to celebrate women’s achievements and help rally for women’s equality!
